India is set to take on England in a three-match ODI series, with the first game scheduled for Thursday, February 6, at the Vidarbha Cricket Stadium in Nagpur.
After securing a dominant 4-1 T20I series victory under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, the ODI squad will now be led by Rohit Sharma. However, Rohit has been under scrutiny due to his recent struggles with both the bat and captaincy.
The Indian skipper has endured a tough few months, failing to make an impact with the bat. Under his leadership, India suffered a 0-3 ODI series loss to New Zealand and a disappointing Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign in 2024-25.
As questions surrounding his form and leadership intensify, Rohit remains unfazed, choosing to approach the England series with a fresh mindset.
*“What kind of question is that? This is a different format, a different time. As cricketers, we know there will be ups and downs, and I’ve faced plenty in my career. This is nothing new to me. Every day is a fresh day, every series is a fresh series. So yeah, I’m looking forward to the challenge rather than dwelling on the past,”* Rohit said during the pre-match press conference.
He further emphasized staying focused on the present rather than looking back, “Obviously, the public doesn’t see it that way, but for me, there’s no reason to dwell on the past. A lot of good things have happened as well, so my focus is on what’s ahead. It’s as simple as that. The goal is to start the series on a high—let’s see how it unfolds.”
