Former Pakistan pace legends Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram shared a lighthearted moment ahead of a recent cricket show in Dubai, hosted by Fakhr-e-Alam. The humorous exchange unfolded while Waqar was preparing to join the panel, which also featured Cheteshwar Pujara and other guests.
As Waqar waited behind a door for his clothes, Wasim seized the opportunity to showcase his trademark wit. Holding Waqar’s blue suit, he playfully teased his former teammate for hiding, making for a comical moment that quickly gained traction on social media.
Interestingly, just a day earlier, Wasim Akram had weighed in on the ongoing “favoritism culture” debate within the Pakistan cricket team following their 60-run loss to New Zealand in their Champions Trophy 2025 opener.
Responding to criticism about Pakistan’s team selection, Akram dismissed claims of bias, emphasizing that the best available players were chosen.
“If you want me to be brutally honest, I can be. In our culture, we say, ‘these are our kids, don’t criticize them.’ But I believe these are our best players. If there was someone better, they would have been selected. People talk about ‘parchi’ (influence-based selection), but at this level, parchi doesn’t work,” Akram told Geo TV.
With their tournament hopes on the line, Pakistan now faces a must-win clash against arch-rivals India on Sunday, February 23. The highly anticipated match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, starting at 2:30 PM IST (1:00 PM local time).
