The third edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 is set to kick off with a thrilling clash between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Giants at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on February 14. RCB Women, eager to start their campaign on a high note, are determined to defend their coveted title.
RCB Women’s title-winning run in 2024 was a landmark moment in the franchise’s history, as it marked their first-ever trophy across both men’s and women’s teams in over 15 years. The victory was made even more special when the WPL trophy was presented at a packed Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ahead of IPL 2024.
Ahead of WPL 2025, former RCB men’s captain Virat Kohli shared a heartfelt message, encouraging the team to play with confidence and enjoy the game.
“It’s amazing what you did last year, and I hope you continue to ride that momentum. With the load of winning the title already off your back, go out there, express yourself, and enjoy the support from fans across India,” Kohli said in a video uploaded by RCB.
He further added, “There’s no shortage of talent, as we saw last year. Now that you’ve already lifted the trophy once, I’m sure you will play with more freedom. I wish you all the very best for the upcoming season.”
With a strong squad and last year’s championship experience, RCB Women will be looking to start their title defense with a statement victory as WPL 2025 gets underway.
