Virat Kohli congratulated Australia’s star batter Travis Head after his brilliant century in the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Head’s explosive innings has been a constant thorn for India over the past year and a half. The Aussies are in command of the third Test, thanks to a sensational fourth-wicket partnership between Steve Smith (101 off 190) and Head. The hosts ended the day at 405/7, with Alex Carey (45 off 47) and Mitchell Starc (7 off 7) at the crease. Head’s knock of 152 off just 160 deliveries included 18 boundaries and came at an impressive strike rate of 95. He continued to dominate the Indian bowlers until Jasprit Bumrah dismissed him in the final session. After reaching his century, Kohli acknowledged Head’s performance with a handshake and a pat on the back. Head is currently the highest run-scorer of the series, amassing 392 runs at an average of 98, with two centuries and a fifty to his name. His scores so far read 11, 89, 140, and 152. He was named Player of the Match in the second Test in Adelaide, where his crucial contributions helped Australia secure a series-leveling 10-wicket victory. The southpaw has been a nemesis for India since the 2023 World Test Championship final at Lord’s, where he was Player of the Match for his match-winning 163. He followed that up with another Player of the Final award in the 2023 ODI World Cup in Ahmedabad, scoring a stunning 137 off 120 balls to guide Australia to their sixth 50-over world title, defeating hosts India.
