The highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is just around the corner, with teams ramping up their preparations for the marquee event.
While teams like India have opted for bilateral series against strong opponents such as England, Pakistan has taken a different approach in the lead-up to the 50-over showdown. The tournament is set to begin on February 19, with the final scheduled for March 9, 2025.
To fine-tune their strategies and team combinations, Pakistan has opted for an ODI tri-series instead of a bilateral series. The hosts will face South Africa and New Zealand in a home series as they gear up for the Champions Trophy.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), along with captain Mohammad Rizwan, is ensuring a warm welcome for the visiting teams, showcasing Pakistan’s renowned hospitality.
In a recent gesture of camaraderie, a video shared by Pakistan’s cricket governing body showed Rizwan taking South African captain Temba Bavuma and New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner on a shopping spree in Karachi.
Rizwan enthusiastically introduced them to various aspects of Pakistani culture, with both captains showing keen interest in learning about local products. Fans have been appreciating this display of hospitality, adding to the excitement surrounding the tri-series.
The tournament kicks off on Saturday, February 8, with hosts Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opener. South Africa will then take on the Kiwis on February 10, followed by a clash between Pakistan and South Africa on February 12.
The final will be held at the newly revamped National Stadium in Karachi on February 14, setting the stage for an exciting prelude to the Champions Trophy.
