Rinku Singh showcased his flair with a rapid 53 off 29 balls in the second T20I against Bangladesh in Delhi.
He began with a flurry of boundaries before slowing down as Nitish Kumar Reddy took charge. Once Reddy was dismissed, Rinku picked up the pace again, reaching his half-century with a six over the keeper.
With India losing three quick wickets, Rinku and Reddy’s 108-run partnership was crucial, putting Bangladesh on the back foot as India posted a total of 221. Suryakumar Yadav’s side then bowled out Bangladesh for 135, securing an 86-run win.
After the game, Rinku credited coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar for allowing the team to play freely.
“The coach and captain have told us to play our game, whatever the situation. The message from them is *maar-te jao ball ko* (just keep hitting the ball). They’ve given us full freedom to play aggressively,” Rinku shared in the post-match press conference.
Typically a finisher, Rinku explained how he adapts his approach depending on when he bats. “When I come in early, I focus on singles and doubles to build pressure on the bowler. But as a finisher, my aim is to hit more fours and sixes. My main goal is to get as many runs as possible for the team,” he added.
