India’s premier pacer Mohammad Shami has shared a video on social media showcasing his intense bowling session in the nets, signaling his readiness for a return to the Indian squad ahead of the England series and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Shami’s absence was felt during the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) in Australia. However, the 27-second clip reveals him delivering thunderbolts with precision and fiery intent, reinforcing his claim for a spot in the squad. Captioned “Precision, Pace, and Passion, All Set to Take on the World!”, the video highlights Shami’s sharpness and fitness as he looks to don the Indian jersey again. The selection for the England series and the ICC Champions Trophy is expected on January 12, and Shami appears determined to make his case. Shami, who underwent ankle surgery following the ICC World Cup 2023, spent nearly a year away from cricket. He marked his return to competitive cricket with Bengal in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Although he was slated to join the Indian team for the Australia Test tour, knee swelling ruled him out of the BGT 2024-25. With his form and fitness on display, Shami’s return could bolster India’s pace attack as they prepare for crucial upcoming tournaments.
