Legendary cricketer and former India head coach Rahul Dravid, currently in his hometown Bengaluru after a busy stint with Rajasthan Royals ahead of IPL 2025, found himself in an unexpected road incident.
On the evening of February 4, Dravid was seen in a verbal exchange with an auto driver on Cunningham Road, not far from M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he is honored with a Wall of Excellence.
Eyewitnesses reported that Dravid initially maintained his usual calm demeanor, speaking softly, while the auto driver appeared more agitated. Though the audio of their exchange wasn’t clear, onlookers said Dravid explained that the collision wasn’t his fault, as the auto driver had braked abruptly, giving him little time to react.
The auto driver, speaking in Kannada, admitted fault but argued that Dravid could have done more to avoid the crash.
The minor collision involved Dravid’s SUV and a goods-carrying auto, but no injuries or major damage were reported. As of now, no FIR or police complaint has been filed, but with the video of the incident going viral, authorities might look into the matter.
Dravid, who led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup as head coach, ended his tenure with the national team on June 29.
He then joined Rajasthan Royals, a franchise he previously played for between 2011 and 2013 after a stint with RCB. As IPL 2025 approaches, Dravid is focused on leading the Royals to their long-awaited second title, adding another milestone to his illustrious coaching career.
