India’s camp was buzzing with excitement on Saturday after another stellar performance against Bangladesh.
Under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, the team clinched the series finale by 133 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, completing a clean sweep under head coach Gautam Gambhir.
During the post-match presentation, former cricketer Murali Kartik noted the team’s enthusiastic reaction as Sanju Samson received the Player of the Match award, prompting him to ask Samson about it.
“The dressing room energy and the boys really have lots of happiness for me. I am very happy. They’re happy that I did well,” Samson shared, smiling at his teammates.
He also reflected on the leadership’s unwavering support, despite his earlier struggles in the Sri Lanka series, where he faced back-to-back ducks.
“The dressing room and the leadership group we have, they keep telling me, ‘I know what type of talent you have, and we back you no matter what,’” Samson explained.
“Not just in words, but in actions too, they’ve shown me. After the last series, I got two ducks and went back to Kerala thinking, ‘kya hoga bhai,’ but they backed me in this series. I’m happy I gave something for my captain and coach to smile about.”
