Following their 2-0 Test series victory over Bangladesh, India is now set on securing the T20I series.
Rising stars from the IPL, Mayank Yadav (Lucknow Super Giants) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (Sunrisers Hyderabad), made their India debuts in the first T20I against Bangladesh.
After winning the toss, T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav opted to bowl, dismissing Bangladesh for 127 with one ball remaining.
Debutant Mayank Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Washington Sundar each took a wicket, while Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets apiece, with Arshdeep earning Man of the Match honors.
The BCCI shared a video where Yadav and Reddy reflected on their debuts and what representing India means to them. Mayank, who made waves in IPL 2024, said, “Playing after my injury was a great moment, though I was nervous. When I found out I’d play, memories of the last four months flashed before me.” Reddy added, “Playing for India is a dream come true. It’s a proud moment for me and my family.”
Both players impressed during IPL 2024—22-year-old Mayank Yadav bowled a record 156.7 km/h for India, while 21-year-old Reddy, the IPL Emerging Player of the Season, became a key all-rounder for Sunrisers Hyderabad despite past injury setbacks.
