In a light-hearted video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), KL Rahul was asked to name the most famous person in his phone contact list.
Without hesitation, the Karnataka batter picked his former captain and India teammate, Virat Kohli, delighting fans of both players.
Currently in Australia preparing for the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, the Indian team took a brief break from the intense buildup for a fun Q&A session organized by BCCI’s social media team.
Asked, “Who is the most famous person in your contact list?” Rahul confidently responded, “Virat Kohli,” highlighting their longstanding camaraderie.
Rahul and Kohli’s friendship dates back to their time at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2013. As Indian captain, Kohli consistently backed Rahul, even during periods of poor form—not just due to their bond, but because of Kohli’s faith in Rahul’s potential.
During the same Q&A session, Mohammed Siraj asked Kohli about his favorite innings on Australian soil. The 36-year-old picked his memorable century in the Perth Test during the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Despite India losing the match by 146 runs, Kohli’s gritty performance against a formidable Australian bowling attack earned widespread praise.
As Kohli recounted his knock, teammates Mohammed Siraj and Sarfaraz Khan chimed in enthusiastically, calling him a “legend,” reflecting their admiration for one of cricket’s greatest players.
This playful interaction showcased the lighter side of Team India’s preparations, offering fans a glimpse into the camaraderie and mutual respect among the squad ahead of the high-stakes series.
