Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has appointed Omkar Salvi as their new bowling coach for the IPL 2025 season, replacing Australian Adam Griffith. Salvi, a former Railways cricketer, brings a strong track record, having guided Mumbai to their first Ranji Trophy title in eight years and an Irani Cup victory last season.
The 46-year-old also had a brief but successful stint with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) when they won the IPL 2024 season, marking his only prior IPL experience. He is expected to join RCB after the ongoing Indian domestic season concludes.
RCB’s Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, expressed excitement about Salvi’s appointment, citing his expertise in developing fast bowlers and his proven domestic and IPL success. “Omkar’s technical expertise, local knowledge, and leadership will add immense value to our squad and environment,” Bobat said.
Salvi will also reunite with Dinesh Karthik, who has been named RCB’s batting coach and mentor for 2025. The duo previously worked together in the IPL.
RCB, aiming for their first IPL title, recently retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, scheduled for November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
