India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh may be playing for a new team in the 2025 IPL season, as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) reportedly have their sights set on him.
Released by Punjab Kings despite being their top wicket-taker last season with 19 wickets in 14 matches, Arshdeep remains a valuable option, and Punjab Kings could still retain him through the Right to Match (RTM) option.
As the defending champions, KKR are keen on a skilled Indian pacer who can bowl with the new ball and at the death, making Arshdeep a prime target.
The bowler’s recent removal of Punjab Kings-related Instagram posts has fueled rumors of his potential shift to a new franchise.
KKR is expected to bid aggressively, but Punjab, with the largest auction purse at INR 110.5 crore, may make a strong effort to reacquire Arshdeep. With 76 wickets in 65 IPL matches, Arshdeep is a proven performer in both IPL and international cricket, recently playing a crucial role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory with 17 wickets at an average of 12.64.
KKR is also seeking a strong opener like Jos Buttler to strengthen their top order, following the success of Phil Salt and Sunil Narine as openers in their 2024 title win.
