Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s wife, Sanjana Ganesan, provided an update on his recovery after Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz inquired about him during their ICC interview ahead of the India vs. Bangladesh Champions Trophy 2025 clash in Dubai.
The two teams are set to open their CT 2025 campaign on February 20 in a Group A encounter at the Dubai International Stadium.
Bumrah was ruled out of the eight-team ICC tournament on February 11 due to a lower back injury sustained during the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (January 3-5, 2025).
While he was named in India’s provisional squad on January 18, he was later replaced by Harshit Rana on the final day of squad revisions, dealing a major blow to Team India.
In Bumrah’s absence, Mohammed Shami will lead India’s bowling attack, supported by Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.
Ahead of India’s tournament opener, Sanjana Ganesan gave an update on Bumrah’s fitness and recovery during an ICC interview with Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
When asked by Miraz, *“How is Bumrah?”*, Sanjana responded with a reassuring update, “He is okay. He is training at the NCA.”
Miraz, known for his all-round abilities, admitted that he was **relieved that Bumrah isn’t playing** in the Champions Trophy 2025.
“He is a very different bowler and very dangerous, uff! He is not coming here. We are very happy! He is very dangerous. Everybody respects him. Every batter. I got out against him two times. He has improved a lot. He bowls both ways,” Miraz said, acknowledging Bumrah’s lethal skills with the ball.
