Parth Jindal, co-owner of Delhi Capitals, warmly welcomed KL Rahul to the franchise, promising to provide the love and respect the experienced batter needs to thrive.
Rahul’s move to DC comes after a tumultuous exit from Lucknow Super Giants, where tensions with owner Sanjiv Goenka were evident. Goenka’s public outbursts and subtle digs, such as emphasizing team-first players over personal milestones, hinted at a strained relationship. Despite attempts to reconcile, LSG chose not to retain Rahul.
Jindal, however, is confident in Rahul’s abilities and sees his arrival as a strategic win for Delhi.
“KL is a quality player and a good friend. He thrives in a supportive atmosphere, and we’ll give him exactly that. I hope he brings his best to DC and helps us win an IPL,” Jindal told RevSportz.
At ₹14 crore, Rahul became one of the most expensive Indian players in the IPL 2025 auction, outpacing fierce competition from RCB, KKR, and CSK. With 4683 IPL runs under his belt, Rahul’s consistency and ability to adapt to grounds like Kotla make him a key asset for DC.
Jindal emphasized Rahul’s class, dismissing concerns about strike rates, and highlighted that after missing out on marquee players like Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, Rahul was the clear next choice.
