The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially issued a set of new disciplinary and travel guidelines for the Indian cricket team ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The players have been handed a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) covering regulations on accompanying family members, training nets, travel logistics, luggage allowances, and more.
As per reports, players were first briefed about these strict “non-negotiable” protocols during the recently concluded third ODI against England in Ahmedabad. Today it has been confirmed that these rules have been implemented with immediate effect.
The BCCI has appointed R. Devraj, the touring manager for the Champions Trophy 2025, to oversee and enforce these regulations.
According to the board, the primary objective of these directives is to “establish guidelines that promote discipline, unity, and a positive team environment while ensuring professional standards and operational efficiency during tours and series.”
“There is no going back on this. The players have been made aware that the BCCI is very serious about the SOPs. The board is strict about enforcing these rules,” a team source told the media.
The 10-point directive was introduced following India’s disappointing loss to Australia in the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which exposed reported internal rifts and disagreements over team selection.
The BCCI’s swift action aims to restore discipline and team cohesion ahead of the marquee ODI tournament.
India is set to depart for Dubai in a few days, with their Champions Trophy opener scheduled against Bangladesh on February 20. Placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, India will look to make a strong start in their quest for the title.
