Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal have been released by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega-auction.
Rajasthan retained Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson for INR 18 crore each, Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag for INR 14 crore each, Shimron Hetmyer for INR 11 crore, and Sandeep Sharma for INR 4 crore, marking the end of the popular Buttler-Chahal duo with the team.
Since joining in 2022, Chahal developed a close bond with Buttler, sharing numerous fun moments that became social media favorites, including their exchange of the purple and orange caps in 2022.
Chahal even humorously expressed his wish to open the batting with Buttler someday.
After their departure, Chahal posted an emotional video on social media, sharing clips of their time together and writing, “In 2022 I knew him as Jos Buttler. In 2024, he’s my Jos bhai. Only a few people know what you’ve done for me.”
Both players are now set to enter the IPL 2025 mega-auction with a base price of INR 2 crore. The auction, taking place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24-25, will witness bidding from all ten IPL teams.
