The BCCI has introduced another significant initiative to strengthen domestic cricket. Over the past few years, the board has implemented various measures to enhance the domestic game.
Earlier this year, it mandated that players represent their state teams when not playing for the national team. Additionally, the BCCI increased prize money for major domestic tournaments, such as raising the Ranji Trophy prize from INR 2 crore to INR 5 crore.
Other competitions, including the Irani Cup, Duleep Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, also saw prize boosts. In August, the BCCI introduced individual player awards for motivation.
“We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women’s and Junior Cricket tournaments,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced, adding that this applies to senior men’s tournaments as well.
In a recent move, the BCCI launched the Athlete Monitoring System (AMS) to improve player performance and management. Jay Shah informed all state associations about the AMS and its benefits. The system, developed by the BCCI Centre of Excellence, includes features like health and fitness dashboards, injury monitoring, performance alerts, and real-time workload management through an athlete-operated app.
It aims to standardize player monitoring, improve injury management, and enhance overall performance across domestic cricket.
