The BCCI is considering Saudi Arabia, specifically Riyadh or Jeddah, as potential hosts for the IPL 2025 mega auction, set for the last week of November.
While Dubai remains an option, it’s not currently the top choice. This follows the successful 2023 auction held at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena.
However, higher costs in Saudi cities pose logistical challenges, as the BCCI seeks a venue to host the two-day event with all IPL staff, franchise representatives, and broadcasters.
Initially, London was considered but ruled out due to cold weather.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings are awaiting MS Dhoni’s decision on his participation for the upcoming season. A meeting with CSK officials is planned for mid-October.
The BCCI also recently updated rules allowing players like Dhoni, who haven’t played international cricket for over five years, to be classified as ‘uncapped’ with a retention price of INR 4 crore.
