The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced the squad for the white-ball tour to Zimbabwe, where Pakistan will play three ODIs followed by three T20Is.
Notably, star batter Babar Azam, along with Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi, has been rested for this tour but will be available for the upcoming series against Australia.
According to the PCB, the selection emphasized players’ recent domestic performances, aligning with the board’s rotation policy to provide opportunities and maintain player readiness for the ICC Champions Trophy.
“Selectors have recognised standout domestic performers… as part of their strategy to build towards the ICC Champions Trophy defense,” the PCB stated.
The PCB has faced significant criticism due to recent losses, including a Test series against Bangladesh and the first match in a series against England.
However, with fresh faces stepping in, Pakistan rallied to win the Test series against England.
