The Vijay Merchant Trophy 2024 is in full swing, with Karnataka facing Jharkhand in a three-day fixture at the DVR Ground in Mulapadu.
Among Karnataka’s Playing XI was Anvay Dravid, younger son of former India cricketer and head coach Rahul Dravid. Anvay justified his selection brilliantly, scoring an unbeaten century in the second innings.
Displaying exceptional patience, Anvay faced 153 deliveries to remain not out on 100, an innings decorated with 10 boundaries and two sixes. Karnataka’s top order also delivered a commanding performance.
Openers Arya Gowda and captain Dhruv Krishnan forged a formidable 229-run partnership in 71.4 overs. Krishnan eventually departed after a stellar 122-run knock, featuring 14 fours and three sixes.
Syaamantak Anirudh joined the skipper but lost his partner just four balls later. However, Anirudh steadied the ship with Anvay at number 4, adding a 167-run stand for the third wicket.
Unfortunately, Anirudh fell short of a well-deserved century, dismissed for 76 off 137 deliveries by Ayush Khare, who provided Jharkhand with a much-needed breakthrough.
