Fakhar Zaman made headlines after his viral post on X (formerly Twitter), where he reacted to the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to drop Babar Azam from the Test squad following Pakistan’s heavy defeat to England in the Multan Test.
In his post, Fakhar praised Babar as one of Pakistan’s best players and compared his situation to Virat Kohli’s, highlighting how the BCCI supported Kohli through his poor form from 2020 to 2023.
“It’s concerning to hear suggestions about dropping Babar Azam. If we are considering sidelining our premier batsman, arguably the best Pakistan has ever produced, it could send a deeply negative message across the team,” Fakhar had written.
However, the PCB was not pleased with his comments and issued a show-cause notice to him, demanding an explanation.
Fakhar responded by reaffirming his support for Babar, explaining that he made the post out of concern for his teammate. He also expressed his respect for the PCB, stating that all players will continue to support the board.
“Babar Azam is one of the best batters in the world, and that’s why I felt compelled to express my opinion. I believe Babar deserved support during tough times. The PCB is our institution, and we will continue to respect it,” Fakhar said, as quoted by Pakistan Cricket.
